Anil and Pamela Malhotra are a truly amazing couple. They moved to India in the 60’s and were devastated by the state of nature: deforestation, and pollution in the river were the two main things they noticed – and it seemed like no one else cared.
They started up the Save Animals Initiative (SAI) Sanctuary, and now purchase old farmland, and create wildlife sanctuaries on it but planting native species when needed, and allowing the forest to regenerate naturally.
So far they have around 300 acres of wildlife sanctuaries, and now elephants, tigers, deer, leopards, birds, and many more species now have a safe space to live.
They have built a couple cabins that are eco-friendly to help support the sanctuary, and tourists can rent them.
What a fantastic initiative!
