In December, Las Vegas announced that all of their city facilities were now being powered by renewable energy sources! They have been working towards this for over a decade now and have finally achieved their goal. They are now the largest city in the United States to run on renewable energy. This change has saved them $5 million a year, and they have also decreased their energy consumption by 30%.
Currently it is only city facilities and government buildings, not residential or commercial buildings. However this is still a huge positive step, and goes to show that cities can make positive impacts and be great role models for each other. Also, hopefully this now makes renewable energy more accessible to the residents of Las Vegas, and that they are encouraged to make the switch.
