Mid-September 2016 Miami Beach banned businesses from selling food in styrofoam containers. Styrofoam is so bad for the health of the planet: first off, it’s made from petroleum based products, it isn’t biodegradable, and breaks into smaller pieces that are very hard to get rid of!
Well, it’s one thing for a city to actually ban something, but a whole other story for them to enforce it! They finding businesses $50 for their first offence, $100 for their second offence, and $500 for their third offence – and within the first week of the ban, they fined 15 businesses! Great job Miami Beach, and hopefully others follow their lead!
