Who isn’t familiar with the dreary sight of trash along the highway and on sidewalks after the snow clears? Garbage piles up under the snow throughout the winter months, polluting public areas. Mixed with dirt and remnants of winter, the trash clean up can seem daunting.
Saint John, New Brunswick has introduced an innovative approach to address this problem. The Green Machine is a 14-foot mobile trailer equipped with the tools citizens need to initiate neighbourhood cleanups. Packed with everything from garbage bags to rakes, shovels and gloves the mobile unit can be rented and towed to any location within city limits. It’s no mystery that city dwellers contribute to the trash; now they can contribute to the clean up!
Community members working together to beautify and clean their city; what an example of environmentally friendly civic engagement at its finest!
The Green Machine can be booked for use on the City of Saint John website.
