I have wrapped just about all the Christmas presents we are giving this year – I still have a few more present to buy.
I knew I didn’t want to go out and buy wrapping paper to wrap our gifts in – a) it costs money, and b) it’s wasteful.
We had a bunch of used paper bags under our sink from the liquor store and other stores, as well as a newspaper I rescued from a neighbours recycling bin. We also had some tissue paper that had been given to us in a gift that I kept, knowing that it would be used again.
I cut the old paper bags and used it as wrapping paper, or wrapped the tissue paper around gifts. For cards, I cut small squares of paper bags to write on. We did use tape, but only because we had a few roles – once we use up the tape we will start looking at alternatives to tape. The blue ribbon was left in my office at work, so I have been using it for a bunch of things!
Have you used any creative gift wrapping ideas to reduce your waste? I would love to hear about them!
